Breakfast Scrambled Eggs made in an Air Fryer

Yes! You can make scrambled eggs in the air fryer. No more messy eggs to scrub off of a pan or a stove to clean. All you need is a non-stick baking pan, a little time, and of course eggs.

Round out your eggs with some fresh fruit, air fryer bacon, and some potato rounds.

Are these eggs as fluffy and identical to making them on the stove, no they are not. However, if you are avoiding your stove, you are in an RV, or you live in a dorm room, making them in the air fryer is a fabulous option. They are still great eggs, just not exactly the same as the stove top version.

Recipe Ingredients

Basic, simple ingredients is all you need, plus a small baking dish and you are all ready to try out making air fryer eggs.

  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Heavy Cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to Make Air Fryer Scrambled Eggs

It is so simple to make scrambled eggs in an air fryer. Here are the basic step by step instructions. For the full instructions and ingredients, check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Step one is putting the cooking pan into the air fryer and adding butter. Then preheat the air fryer.
STEP 1: Put a 6-inch round pan or oven proof bowl into the air fryer. Add in butter. Preheat the air fryer.
Step two is mixing together the ingredients in a bowl.
STEP 2: While the air fryer is preheating, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper.
The egg mixture gets added to the pan in the air fryer.
STEP 3: Swirl the melted butter around the baking pan or bowl using an oven proof glove for protection. Pour egg mixture into the hot pan.
The pan of eggs gets mixed in the air fryer after cooking for a bit. Continue cooking.
STEP 4: Set air fryer to 300 deg f. Cook for 3 minutes, open the air fryer and stir eggs with a spatula.
The pan of eggs gets mixed again in the air fryer until cooked through.
STEP 5: Close air fryer and cook the eggs for an additional 4-5 minutes.

Cooking Tips and Tricks

  • Use room temperature eggs for quicker cooking.
  • Don’t do too many eggs for the size of the container, you don’t want it over flowing.
  • Briskly whisk the eggs to get a fluffier texture.

Recipe Variations

  • Switch up the flavor by adding in spices like cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, or curry powder.
  • Sprinkle in your favorite chopped herbs.
  • Mix a good melting cheese into eggs the eggs or sprinkle on shredded cheese to cooked scrambled eggs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these scrambled eggs need to be made in a dish? Yes, you absolutely need to use a baking dish or an oven safe bowl to make scrambled eggs. I like to use a non-stick metal pan that is about 6 inches across.

Do I have to add dairy? Adding milk to the eggs makes them creamier, but, it is not necessary to add it.

How to Store & Reheat

How to store it? Let the eggs cool completely and put in an airtight container. It should last about 3-4 days in the fridge.

How do you reheat scrambled eggs? Pre-heat the air fryer to 300° F. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until heated through.

How to freeze? Let cool completely before putting into an air tight, freezer safe container. They can be frozen for up to 1 month, just be sure to label with the recipe and date. The texture may be different after thawing and reheating.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream or milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Put a 6-inch round pan or oven proof bowl into the air fryer. Add in 1 tablespoon of butter. Preheat the air fryer at 400°F for 2 minutes.
  • While the air fryer is preheating, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper.
  • Swirl the melted butter around the baking pan or bowl using an oven proof glove for protection. Pour egg mixture into the hot pan.
  • Set air fryer to 300 deg f. Cook for 3 minutes, open the air fryer and stir eggs with a spatula. Close air fryer and cook the eggs for an additional 4-5 minutes until cooked through.
