Lucky Charms Bars are a no-bake treat packed with gooey marshmallow, cereal, sweet white chocolate, and melty butter. These Lucky Charms treats have St. Patrick’s Day written all over them!
We love that these Lucky Charms bars are made with just a few simple ingredients and are so easy to make. For another special green treat, try out Watergate Cake, pistachio flavored cake with a light airy frosting.
I am a sucker for marshmallows! I have always loved those white, fluffy pillows of sugar. I even tend to lean towards desserts with marshmallows in them or candy that is marshmallow flavored. That’s why Lucky Charms marshmallow cereal has always had a special place in my heart.
I mean who doesn’t love it? It’s delicious plus, it’s just fun to eat.
Typically I get my kids healthier, low sugar cereals to eat for breakfast. I know, boring and responsible. But, occasionally I’ll get them Lucky Charms and I become, Super Mom.
When my kids saw these gooey, marshmallow infused bars, I think their eyes popped out of their heads. These bars just look decadent.
Everyone was willing to help me with what ever I needed because they just knew there was a possibility of getting a chunk of one of these bars as payment.
These Lucky Charms cereal bars are kind of like rice krispie treats, but a lot crunchier because they aren’t made with that light, crisped rice. You can even use Cheerios to make honey nut cheerio bars.
These bars really have a feeling of spring, they are so colorful. They would be perfect anytime of the year, but would be super cute for St. Patrick’s Day or Easter because of the cute Lucky Charms marshmallows.
Thickest, Bakery-Style Marshmallow Bars
These Lucky Charms cereal bars are super thick, like you have to unhinge your jaw just to take a bite, thick. Without realizing it, I used a 7 1/2 x 11 3/4 baking dish instead of a 9 x 13. I smooshed all the treats goo in there to the very brim. If you are looking for the really chunky, bakery style bars, I recommend the smaller pan.
I love a good, no-bake recipe. Normally, they are easy and come together quickly. This recipe is so super simple. All you do is melt the butter and stir in marshmallows until they become this gooey sauce.
Next, dump in the cereal and carefully stir from the bottom up to fully incorporate the marshmallow goo with the cereal. Then just press into a baking dish and let cool completely. Cut into bars, dip the bottoms in chocolate and drizzle with chocolate.
How to Keep The Lucky Charms Goo Mixture From Sticking?
When you press the Lucky Charms mixture into the baking pan, it can be super sticky. Here are a couple ways to help get it into the pan.
- Use a spoon that has been coated in butter or non-stick spray to scoop out the mixture into the pan.
- Butter the back of a measuring cup (this is what I used) to press the mixture down.
- Coat your hands with butter or non-stick spray to press the mixture down into the pan.
How to Make White Chocolate Drizzle?
The white chocolate on these bars is completely optional, but adds an extra layer of deliciousness. I scooped a spoonful or two of the melted chocolate into the corner of a zip sandwich bag (zip it closed). Then I cut a tiny bit off the corner and drizzled the white chocolate back and forth over each bar.
Lucky Charms Bars Ingredients
- Lucky Charms: The magically delicious cereal with the colorful marshmallows. You can also use the store brand.
- Marshmallows: I used miniature marshmallows because I like how quickly they melt. Large marshmallows could also be used.
- Butter: A good quality, unsalted butter.
- Melting Chocolate: I used white chocolate candy coating (may also be known as almond bark or melting wafers), but you could try using white chocolate chips also. The flavor on the one I used was great and not waxy at all.
How to Make Lucky Charms Bars
- Melt the butter.
- Add in marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
- Pour in the cereal and combine until all of the cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture.
- Press into 13×9 baking pan and let set for 2 hours before cutting.
- Cut into squares or rectangles and melt the chocolate according to package directions.
- Immediately dip the bottoms of each bar in white chocolate and set on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
- Let sit for about 10 minutes, then Enjoy!
Lucky Charms Bars Tips
- Keep the marshmallow cereal mixture over low heat while stirring to keep it from hardening.
- Use the back of a buttered spoon or measuring cup to help press the cereal mixture into the baking dish.
- Use a smaller baking dish for even thicker bars. I actually used a 11 3/4 x 7 1/2 sized dish (may not be able to push cookie cutters through if you make them this thick).
- Place extra marshmallows pulled out of the cereal on top of these bars right after you press them into the baking dish.
Lucky Charms Bars Variations
- Try dipping the bars in dark chocolate or milk chocolate instead of white chocolate.
- Use cookie cutters to make different shapes other than just squares or rectangles. To get the best shapes, you may want to put the marshmallow and cereal mixture into two 9 x 13 pans because it will be thinner.
- Use biscuit cutters to cut them into rounds.
- Leave off the white chocolate drizzle.
Storage Instructions for Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats
- How to Refrigerate Lucky Charms Bars: I actually do not recommend putting these bars in the fridge because it will make them super hard.
- Store Lucky Charms Bars at Room Temperature: Store Lucky Charms bars in an airtight container at room temp for up to 7 days.
- How to Freeze Lucky Charms Bars: Put the bars into an airtight glass, BPA-free freezer-safe bag or freezer-safe plastic container. Make sure to label the bars with the recipe name and date. The bars should last about 2 months in the freezer.
- How to Thaw Lucky Charms Bars: Thaw the bars on the countertop.

These cereal bars were so perfect for St. Paddy’s Day, such a fun treat! My family liked them so much, I turned around and made them again for Easter.
Tristin
I also really like that these Lucky Charms bars are super cute for St. Patrick’s Day, but still pastel enough for Easter. Thanks Annalyn.

Tried out this recipe for the first time. I don’t bake much but these were simple. My kids really enjoyed them and they didn’t last long.

These lucky charms bars get eaten really quickly at my house, too! Thanks so much, Kara.
