Nutella Truffles are no-bake treats filled with rich and creamy Nutella, chocolatey Oreos, and dipped in luscious chocolate. Make these truffles for the Nutella lover in your life. These are the best Valentine’s Day sweets!
I love how these chocolate truffles turned out! They are even pretty enough to give as gifts. For another fun Valentine’s Day gift idea, try these Cream Cheese Candies. They just kinda melt in your mouth, so good!!
Valentine’s Day is coming up quick, we are just a few short weeks away.
If you are looking for a delicious treat to make for that special someone, these Oreo Nutella Truffles are so perfect (and delicious) for Valentine’s Day. I used pink, red, and white sprinkle hearts, but one thing I really like about these truffles is that they are customizable.
Easily make them for any holiday, any time of year just to munch on, and they are pretty enough for a school bake sale.
Kids enjoy making these truffles, but it will probably end up very messy. That’s all part of the fun, right?!
These truffles aren’t exactly like a traditional truffle that has a smooth interior, but they are decadent. The Oreos still stay a tiny bit crunchy because the food processor breaks them down to crumbs.
This didn’t stop my kiddos from wanting to devour them all and begging me for more. And my hubby liked the reminder that there were Oreos inside (they are his ABSOLUTE favorite cookies).

How Many Ingredients do I Need to Make Nutella Truffles?
These truffles are a great no-bake dessert that are really easy to make and you only need 3 ingredients to make them (plus colored sprinkles for the top). They need melting chocolate, Oreos, and Nutella.
How Else Could I Decorate Nutella Truffles?
If you don’t want to use candy heart sprinkles, instead you could decorate the tops of these truffles with a drizzle of chocolate. Melt the chocolate according to the directions (white chocolate would be pretty on top of milk chocolate). Pour the melted chocolate into one corner of a small ziplock bag. Snip a tiny bit off the corner of the bag. Drizzle thin lines back and forth over the top of the truffles. Now you have made truffles with an impressive chocolate shop look.
Nutella Truffle Ingredients
- Cookies: I used Oreo cookies, the regular ones not the double stuffed. You could also use the store brand sandwich cookies.
- Melting Chocolate: I used chocolate candy coating (may also be known as almond bark or melting wafers), but you could try using semi-sweet chocolate chips also. The flavor was great and not waxy at all.
- Nutella: I like the flavor of using real Nutella. If you enjoy another brand, go for it. Or use homemade Nutella.
- Sprinkles: These are optional but adds lots of fun color.
How to Make Nutella Truffles
Check out the recipe card below for more specific instructions on how to make chocolate truffles.
- Add Oreos and Nutella into the food processor.
- Combine until smooth and it starts forming a ball.
- Chill the dough in the fridge.
- Form dough into 1 tablespoon sized balls, rolling between your hands.
- Place the truffle balls onto a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment or wax paper.
- Chill the truffle balls in the fridge.
- Melt the almond bark according to the package instructions. For me, it was heating the chocolate for 15 seconds at a time, stirring in between each heating cycle.
- Dip a truffle in the melted chocolate, I used a fork. Tap off any excess chocolate. Place back onto the baking sheet and top immediately with sprinkles (if you let it set too long, the chocolate will harden and you won’t be able to add sprinkles).
- Chill according to the package directions on the melting chocolate (mine said 2-5 minutes).
- Enjoy!
Nutella Truffle Tips
- Make sure to refrigerate the truffles after forming them, this step is crucial. If they are warm they will break off into your melting chocolate.
- Use a tablespoon sized cookie dough scoop or a melon baller to make each ball the same size.
- Top the truffles that have been coated in the melted chocolate with sprinkles immediately because if they harden you will be unable to add the sprinkles.
- The filling inside these truffles will be slightly crunchy because of the Oreos.
- I melted the whole tray of chocolate (16 ounces), but I suggest putting half of it in a bowl and melting that instead. I definitely did not need the full 16 ounces.
Nutella Truffle Variations
- Use other flavors of Oreos like golden or red velvet.
- I used Valentine colored sprinkle hearts for the top of these truffle, but you could use any colors and make these anytime of the year.
- Try homemade hazelnut spread in these truffles.
- Use white or dark chocolate melting chocolate instead of milk chocolate.
Storage Instructions for Nutella Truffles
- How to Refrigerate Nutella Truffles: Store truffles in a glass container or BPA-free airtight plastic container or zipper bag. Keep stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- How to Store Nutella Truffles at Room Temperature: Since these truffles have no cream cheese in them, they can be stored at room temperature. Keep them in a glass container or BPA-free airtight plastic container or zipper bag for up to 5 days.
