The cook time is going to be dependent on the thickness of the pork chops and your brand of air fryer. When I air fry 1/2-inch pork chops in my basket style air fryer, they are done in 6-7 minutes. A thick cut chop (like 1-inch or more) could take anywhere from 8-15 minutes, that’s why we open the air fryer to check the temperature.

What are Shake and Bake Pork Chops?

If you have never had shake n bake pork, you have got to try this recipe.
What kind of Pork Chops are best to use?
When making this recipe, the pork chops you use is completely up to you. I like to use boneless pork chops because my kids can easily cut through them, but they can get dry in the air fryer if you are not careful. They also be known as pork loin filets, boneless pork loin chops, or center loin chop.
Pork rib chops (bone-in pork chops) will turn out juicier because they are a little fattier and typically cook more evenly. Some common names for these chops are rib pork chop, pork chop end cut, center-cut rib chop or bone-in rib chop.
What Temperature to cook Pork Chops to?
It is imperative to cook pork chops to the correct temperature or else they will turnout dried out and hard to chew. You just want to cook them just until they are done, this may mean that they are still a tiny bit pink inside. Bone-in pork chops are more forgiving because they are a little juicier, but it is very easy to over cook boneless pork chops.
The USDA states that pork chops are done when they reach 145 degrees f when checked with an instant read thermometer in the thickest part of the chop. Just make sure the thermometer stays in the center of the chops and isn’t poking through and touching any metal.
What to Serve with Pork Chops
Pork chops make the perfect dinner idea and they go so well with so many side dishes.
Serve with our favorite cheesy garlic mashed potatoes, air fryer sweet potato cubes, or some frozen air fryer French fries.
Some fresh veggies like this air fryer broccoli with parmesan, green beans, air fryer squash and zucchini, or oven baked asparagus parmesan, will pair perfectly with these pork chops.

Tips for Success
- My number one, top tip is to make sure not to over bake the pork chops. You just want to air fry them until the internal temperature reaches 145° f when read with a meat thermometer. The cook time is less important than the temperature, that is why we check it before air frying it for the full cooking time.
- Don’t be afraid to open the air fryer, check on pork chops part of the way through cooking.
- Keep the chops in a single layer and not touching in the air fryer basket. This way they will cook evenly.
- When serving pork chops, be mindful not to keep them at room temp for longer than 2 hours because they can start growing bacteria.
Recipe Variation
- Add your own seasonings to the shake n bake seasoning, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or black pepper.
- Make these crispier by spraying the outside with a light spritz of oil with an olive oil sprayer.
- Double the recipe. To make double the recipe, just use both packets of breading.
- Add shredded parmesan cheese to the breading.
- Make your own shake n bake coating by using breadcrumbs or ground pork rinds instead.
Frequently Asked Questions

How to store it? Let the chops cool to room temperature and put in an airtight container. It should last about 3-4 days in the fridge.
