What are Cookie Witches Hats?

Cookie witch hats are a fun Halloween treat that are fudge cookies that make up the brim of the hat and the kiss makes the pointy top. When frosting is added as a hat band, they look just like tiny witch hats.

I love that these witch hats can be put together super last minute and they are ready to eat the moment they are assembled.

These Halloween treat recipe makes a fabulous party appetizer. These witch hats would look super spooky next to the rest of your Halloween foods. Serve them along side all of your other party treats like apple cider slushies or pumpkin cookies. Or just make and eat them any time for a festive snack.

Make as many cookies or as little cookies as you want. This is a very flexible recipe.

All you have to do to assemble these adorable little hats is to add a little glob of frosting on the bottom of a chocolate kiss. Place the chocolate kiss over the hole on the bottom of a cookie and let sit for a couple minutes. Then the fun part…you get to decorate!!

Cookie Witch Hats Ingredients

  • Decorating Frosting: I used the tubes of pre-made decorating frosting. Get two or three different colors in Halloween colors like black, orange, purple, or lime green.
  • Fudge Striped Shortbread Cookies: I used the pre-made ones from the store.
  • Milk Chocolate Kisses: I used about half of a 10 oz bag.

Cookie Witch Hats Tips

  • Adjust the amount. Make as many or as little hats as you want. This recipe makes 24 cookie witch hats.
  • Use different flavored kisses. Experiment with different flavors of kisses! There are so many flavors. Dark chocolate, chocolate with caramel, cherry, hugs (white and milk chocolate swirled together)… or even chocolate almond. YUM!!
  • Different cookie. Use a different cookie base instead of fudge striped cookie. It will have a different look, but will still be tasty.
  • Even more decoration. Add sprinkles, colored sugar (fine or coarse), or jimmies to give your cookie witch hats an even more festive look.
  • Kisses may get smudged. Try to touch the cookie and chocolate kiss on top as little as possible or they may smudge them and leave marks on the chocolate. I held the cookie around the edges or set on a surface. Of course, if you are decorating with kids they are going to need to handle them and will smudge them.
  • Leftover frosting. If you have any frosting leftover, make sure to refrigerate it.
