Brown Sugar Carrots are absolutely mouthwatering in a thick sauce of melty butter, flavorful cinnamon, and sweet brown sugar. These glazed carrots will become a new favorite side dish in your house.
These carrots are the perfect addition to any dinner, but are special enough to serve at holidays. I especially love them served with hot, steamy rice and a large salad. Or try one of these side dishes Salt and Vinegar Smashed Potatoes or Healthy Mashed Sweet Potatoes.
Carrots with Brown Sugar
The first time I made these, I thought that the one cup of water that the recipe calls for seemed like a lot. I was panicked that I was going to have these cooked carrots with this thin watery liquid that was slightly sweet with a faint taste of cinnamon. Boy was I wrong!
Once the sauce on these babies cools down, it thickens up and coats the carrots like a glaze. A mouthwatering, buttery, cinnamon-y glaze!! These are some saucy carrots.
Let me tell you….while these candied carrots cook they create smells that fill your house that will make you swoon. Since these carrots are boiling in brown sugar and cinnamon, they are sweet and tasty all the way through.
Every time I make these brown sugar carrots, my fam can barely wait to eat them because they smell so good. They are always the highlight of the meal. These carrots are definitely kid approved in my house and will please even the pickiest eater.
The last time I made these carrots, there were even enough for leftovers. They warmed up perfectly the next day and were still just as delicious as the previous night. Another delicious sweet carrot recipe to try is honey harissa roasted carrots.
Can I Make This Recipe Vegan?
This carrot recipe is gluten-free and vegetarian. Easily make these brown sugar carrots * VEGAN * by using margarine instead of butter and vegan brown sugar.
Are Carrots Good For You?
Yes, of course they are. I love carrots and they are highly nutritious. If you were like me, your mom probably told throughout your childhood to eat your carrots because they are good for your eyes. At one point I thought, this is probably all malarkey just to get me to eat veggies, lol.
Well it turns out that carrots are actually good for your eyes!! The health benefits of carrots include a high amount of beta-carotene, which transforms into Vitamin A. Vitamin A helps keep your eyes healthy and can help prevent eye problems and cataracts.
Carrots also have fiber in them, are good for your heart, and help your blood pressure.
