This is the best White Tea Shot recipe! It gets a hint of peach flavor from the peach schnapps and some lemon lime from sweet and sour mix. The classic white tea shot recipe is included plus a couple variations you may enjoy.
We love fun drink recipes, just like this delicious white tea shot. If you are looking for more amazing shot recipes, try these Mexican Candy Shots, watermelon flavored shots with a touch of spicy hot sauce. Or make these Water moccasin Shots, also made with peach schnapps.
White Tea Vodka Shots
Today I am sharing with you my favorite basic white tea shot. It is so good with its peachy, fizzy flavors! It’s also so easy to make and doesn’t have any unnecessary ingredients. I think it is the best simple white tea shot recipe.
These shots are so much fun and are great for parties! They can be made into shots, of course, but you can also make it into a drink for sipping or a pitcher of them for gatherings.
I also wanted to include a couple recipes that are spinoffs from what I consider to be the original white tea recipe. Because it’s fun to experiment with new recipes that are good tasting, also.
So you will look for those at the bottom of this post (but before the recipe card).
Grab some shot glasses and let’s get this party started!
What is a White Tea Shot?
The white tea shot is an alcoholic drink that is really tasty. It is a popular shot that is mostly enjoyed by girls because it doesn’t taste bad and it is lower in calories than the green tea shot. They are popular shots served at bars and college parties.
What do White Tea Shots Taste Like?
These tea shots have a mellow flavor that gets a sweet taste and peach flavor from the peach schnapps. It also has a hint of sour lemon lime from the lemon lime soda and the sweet and sour mix.
What’s in a White Tea Shot?
This white tea shot recipe is made with two types of alcohol, vodka and peach schnapps. Some sweet and sour mix is added in for some lime flavor. And to add some fizz, a splash of lemon lime soda finishes it off.
Does this shot Actually have Tea in it?
Yes and no, the real version of this white tea cocktail that I have made here, does not have any tea included in it. It is a white tea shot without tea. But, in some recipes there is actually tea as an ingredient. I have included some of those tea recipes below.
Why is it called a White Tea Shot if it has no tea?
Let’s go back a bit. Jameson named the original green tea shot a “green tea shot” because of its green hue. It was the sweet and sour mix that is added that gives the shot a greenish tinge that reminded them of a cup of green tea. Even though there is no actual green tea in the shot.
The white tea shot is just a spin off of the green tea shot. So, it is really because of the green tea shot, that it has the “tea” added to its name.
Do I need a Cocktail Shaker?
This drink recipe does need some kind of shaker, but it does not have to be an actual cocktail shaker. I only recently started using a real shaker. I have used a mason jar with screw on lid or anything with a lid.
Just check out this Baby Yoda Cocktail where I used a wooden spoon as a muddler and a Yeti tumbler with a lid (covered the hole with paper towel, lol). No fancy equipment needed.
White Tea Shot vs. Green Tea Shot
White tea shots and green tea shots are very similar and have almost the same ingredients. The only difference is that the classic green tea shot recipe contains Jameson Irish Whiskey instead of vodka. That is why it is sometimes called a Jameson green tea shot. All of the other ingredients are exactly the same.
Recipe Ingredients
This white tea shot is made with equal parts vodka, schnapps, and sour mix. Here are the main ingredients needed.
- Vodka: Use your favorite vodka brand. We like Titos handmade vodka brand (no this is not sponsored). This is a shooter so there is no need to be using an overly expensive vodka, unless you are going to make the drink that you will be sipping. I don’t recommend using a flavored vodka though because you will want to taste the other flavors.
- Peach Schnapps: Adds a hint of sweetness and fruity flavor.
- Sweet and Sour: This is a mix you can buy. But, I have included a recipe below if you wan to make it yourself.
- Lemon Lime Soda: Use your favorite brand of lemon lime soda, you could also use a citrus soda like Squirt.
Supplies Needed
- Cocktail Shaker
- Bar Strainer (if your cocktail shaker doesn’t have one)
- Jigger
- Shot Glasses
How to Make White Tea Shot with Vodka
Here is basically how to make this shot, the total time needed is less than 5 minutes. Check out the recipe card at the bottom of this blog post for full instructions.
- Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- To the cocktail shaker add in the vodka, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour.
- Give it a good shake for 10-20 seconds.
- Strain into shot glass 3/4 of the way and fill the rest with a splash of lemon-lime soda.
How to Make it into a White Tea Drink
This white tea shot can be made into a white tea cocktail recipe that you can sip on rather than down as a shot. It makes a great summer cocktail.
- Double all of the ingredients.
- Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- To the cocktail shaker add in the vodka, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour.
- Give it a good shake for 10-20 seconds.
- Strain into an ice filled cocktail glass 3/4 of the way and fill the rest with soda.
How to Make Homemade Sweet & Sour Mix
Using store bought sweet and sour drink mix is a great way to go and what I normally use in cocktails. But, if you would like to make the homemade version, here is a great recipe. If you microwave your lemons and limes for about ten seconds and then roll on the counter with your hand, you will get much more juice.
This sweet and sour mix recipe makes about 1 1/4 cups.
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 4 limes)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
- In a medium pot, add in water and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Next, add in the fresh lemon and lime juice. Let it cool before using.
- The prepared sweet and sour mix will last in the fridge for about a week.
Different White Tea Shot Recipes
White Tea Shot with Rum
So, most white tea shots are not made with tea, but this recipe actually has white tea in it. The tea can be made using white tea bags or loose leaf tea. I don’t recommend using black tea. This recipe will make 2 servings.
- 1 ounce white rum (blanco rum)
- 1 ounce brewed white tea, at room temperature
- 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 1 slice of lime peel for garnish
- Add ice to a cocktail shaker.
- To the shaker, add in rum, cooled tea, juice and syrup.
- Shake for 10-20 seconds.
- Strain into two 1.5 ounce shot glasses. Garnish with lime peel.
The best white teas to use are white peony or silver needle white tea bags or loose tea.
Lemon White Tea Shot with Tequila
Here is another twist on the original, but made with tequila instead of vodka. A good blanco tequila will go down smoother than a gold tequila will. This recipe will make two shots.
- 1 oz white tequila (blanco tequila)
- 1 oz peach schnapps
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- 1/2oz simple syrup
- 1 thin slice of lemon for garnish
- Add ice to a cocktail shaker.
- To the shaker, add in 1 oz tequila, schnapps, juice and syrup.
- Shake for 10-20 seconds.
- Strain into two 1.5 ounce shot glasses. Garnish with lemon wedge.
Recipe Tips & Variations
- Homemade sweet and sour. Use homemade sour mix instead of buying it. I include directions above.
- Different ingredients. Use a honey-lime syrup or fruit syrups instead of the sweet and sour mix. For a sweeter drink, you can add extra lemon-lime soda.
- Different recipes. Try one of the other versions of the white tea shot.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is white tea? White tea comes from the very new leaves and buds that are harvested from the camellia sinensis plant for only a couple weeks in spring in Fujian, China. It is only considered white tea if it is harvest from this region.
There are five types of white tea leaves Bai Mu Dan (White Peony), Yin Zhen Bai Hao (Silver Needle), Shou Mei (Noble, Long Life Eyebrow), Gongmei (Tribute Eyebrow), Shou Mei (Noble, Long Life Eyebrow) and Fujian New Craft (DaBaiCha or DaHoaCha). White Peony tea leaves or Silver Needle tea are the highest quality.
Do white tea shots taste like alcohol? You still get some of the alcohol burn with this shot recipe but it is not overly alcohol in flavor because of the peach schnapps, soda, and sour mix.
Is the white tea shot considered healthy? I wouldn’t really consider this shot healthy because it contains alcohol. But, the recipes that contain actual white tea may provide some health benefits over the ones that don’t. White tea has been known to help with weight loss by breaking down fat cells. It can also give your metabolism a boost. The amount of calories in a white tea shot are around 130 calories each.
Is the white tea shot expensive? If you are wondering how much the white tea shot costs, it may be a little pricey. These white tea shots at a bar will probably cost around $10, but will vary from bar to bar.
How much alcohol is in a white tea shot? There are two shots of alcohol, plus the sweet and sour mix I use has a little alcohol in it also. The vodka is 40%-50% (80 proof – 100 proof) alcohol and the peach schnapps is 15% alcohol (30 proof).
Does white tea shot have caffeine? My version of the shot does not have caffeine in it. But, if you use one of the tea recipes, they may end up with some caffeine in them.
Storage Instructions
How to refrigerate white tea shot? If you happen to have any drink left over, you can store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
