This adorable Pink Starburst Shot is bursting with sweet watermelon flavor just like starburst candy! Since it is only made three ingredients and tastes amazing, you are going to be making this pink cocktail again and again.

We love fun drink recipes, just like this delicious pink starburst shot. If you are looking for more amazing shot recipes, try these Purple Gecko Shots, they are such a pretty purple. Or make these Water Moccasin Shots, but watch out they may bite!

A starburst shot with a small jar of starbursts.

You are in luck today, because this starburst shot is one of my all time favorite shot recipes. It is probably tied with this Mexican candy shot currently, which has also been a recipe I reach for frequently. I am really excited about this shot because it’s not just pretty in pink, it also tastes really good!

Aren’t pink starbursts the best?! They are my favorite starburst flavor and I’m sure they are your favorites, too. This drink recipe takes your favorite childhood candy flavor and turns it into a treat that adults love.

Need a pretty, pink drink for a special occasion? Try making the great tasting pink starburst shot, (so good that you have to put effort towards not drinking too many!). Its pink color makes it absolutely the perfect cocktail for Valentine’s Day with your love or Galentine’s Day (celebrated on 13 February) with your best gal pals.

Or add these cute shots to your party menu, they are the best shots to make for so many different occasions like a bachelorette party, game day, happy hour, bbq, or even girls night.

Everyone is going to these sweet shots that are full of juicy watermelon flavor. Serve with a large bowl of pink starburst candy for your guests to munch on.

What is a Pink Starburst Shot?

Only the cutest, pinkest, delicious shot around! If you haven’t tried a starburst shot yet, I highly urge you to go digging through your liquor cabinet (I know you have some schnapps up in there, lol). Or go run out and grab the ingredients from your local liquor store asap.

What is in Pink Starburst Shots?

This starburst shot recipe is made with two different types of alcohol, vodka and watermelon schnapps. Some sweet and sour mix is added in for some tangy flavor. A cute little starburst candy and pink sprinkles are used as a garnish, but that is totally optional.

What does a Starburst Shot Taste Like?

I am pleased to tell you that this starburst shot tastes like a pink starburst, the watermelon flavored starbursts. It gets that watermelon flavor from the watermelon pucker, with a bit of creaminess from the whipped cream vodka. Soooo good!

Do I Need a Cocktail Shaker?

You guys, you don’t need a real cocktail shaker to make this drink. I just barely got one recently. This drink recipe does need some kind of shaker, though. You just need a mason jar with a screw on lid.

I have used a random jar with an airtight lid or anything with a lid in the past. Just check out this Baby Yoda Cocktail where I used a wooden spoon as a muddler and a Yeti tumbler with a lid (covered the hole with paper towel, lol). No fancy equipment needed.

Just don’t let it stop you from trying out this shot recipe!

Pink Recipe Ingredients

Just a few simple ingredients to make these sweet shots. Check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post for the full recipe.

  • Vodka: I really like whipped cream vodka or vanilla vodka in this shot. But, I have also tried it with just plain vodka and it definitely works. So if that is what you have, just use unflavored vodka.
  • Schnapps: Watermelon schnapps or watermelon pucker.
  • Sweet & Sour mix: Make your own or use store-bought.
  • Optional Garnish: Use water on the rim then dip that into dusting sugar, sanding sugar, or pink sprinkles. I also like to garnish each shot with a pink starburst (you can use strawberry or watermelon since they are both a cute light pink color).
All of the ingredients needed to make this starburst drink.

How to Make into Pink Starburst Jell-o Shots

  • 16 plastic shot containers (2 ounce)
  • 3.93 ounce package Starburst all-pink strawberry gelatin
  • 1½ cups boiling water
  • 1 cup cold whipped cream flavored vodka
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 16 pink Starburst strawberry candies, unwrapped

1. Put jello shot containers on a baking sheet or tray (to be able to easily move them). 2. Put jello into a large glass bowl with a spout or glass measuring cup and whisk in boiling water until it’s combined. 3. Whisk in the vodka and then add the cool water. 4. Pour the jello mixture in the empty containers. Either put on lids or top with plastic wrap. 5. Place in fridge for at least 2 hours until set.

How to Make it a Starburst Drink

It’s super easy to turn these sweet cocktail shots into a pink starburst cocktail instead.

All you need to do is dip the rim of a cocktail glass in water and sugar. Make the drink in the shaker and strain all of the ingredients into the glass filled with ice. Garnish with starburst skewer.

Garnish Options

When adding the pink sugar to the rim, dipping the glass in a small saucer of water works well. You could also dip it in corn syrup (may be a little drippy), honey, agave, simple syrup, or use the juice of any citrus like lime juice or lemon juice.

I like to skewer starbursts on cocktail picks or make a slit in the side of pink starburst candies to place on the edge of each drink, but this is optional.

To make this even more of a sweet dessert shot, add a dollop of cool whip or whipped cream.

Recipe Tips & Variations

  • Regular vodka. Plain vodka can be used, but it won’t taste nearly as good as the whipped cream vodka or vanilla vodka. Still good though.
  • All pink and red starbursts. Buy the pack of Starburst Fave Reds (or all pink pack if you can find it) at the grocery store, it comes with watermelon starburst, strawberry starburst, cherry starburst, and fruit punch starburst. It’s a lot easier than digging through the regular pack for just the strawberry and watermelon ones.
  • Pink starburst shot without watermelon. Make it a strawberry starburst shot, use strawberry pucker instead of watermelon. You can even add strawberry vodka instead of whipped cream vodka for even more strawberry flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this Shot have any Starbursts in it? No, there aren’t actually any starburst in the shot itself. There is only a starburst garnish.

Do I have to use vodka? A good replacement for vodka in this shot would be white rum or gin. The flavor may be a little different but shouldn’t be overly noticeable.

How many calories in a pink starburst shot? Each shot has about 140 calories.
