All you need to make Air Fryer Dinner Rolls is melty butter and a package of frozen dinner rolls. These soft, fluffy, and buttery Frozen Rolls in the Air Fryer will be on your table in no time.

We are huge bread fans and love making air fryer rolls because they are quick and tasty! If you need an easy homemade bread recipe try this French Bread, it will make your house smell like heaven. Having people over for the game? I highly recommend these Pretzel Bites served with this incredible beer cheese dip.

Frozen Dinner Rolls in Air Fryer

For major holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas, when there isn’t a ton of room in the oven, the air fryer swoops in and saves the day. No valuable oven space is taken up when you use this amazing device.

I have to tell you, making rolls in the air fryer has been a life saver! And dinner rolls for Thanksgiving is a must.

I no longer have to worry about trying to squeeze in a roast, a side dish, and bread into one oven for Sunday dinners. Now I make the rolls in the air fryer and save so much time.

Even just making these rolls in the air fryer for dinner any day of the week, saves time and makes dinner so much easier. We love making these frozen air fryer rolls.

My absolute favorite frozen rolls to use (and the ones I used for this recipe) are the Sister Schubert rolls, but I also really like Rhodes frozen rolls. You can definitely use your favorite brand. The Sister Schubert frozen rolls I used were precooked, not the dough rolls that come in the metal pie tin. If you use the dough rolls, make sure to follow the package instructions and allow them to rise if they need to. I do also like Rhodes rolls in air fryer.

Can I Cook Sister Schubert Rolls in the Air Fryer?

Yes you can, thank goodness!! Sister Schubert dinner rolls can be made right in the air fryer.

The rolls go into the air fryer frozen little bricks and come out toasty and pillow soft, they taste just like homemade rolls. You can make however many you want, if you need dinner rolls for two or dinner rolls for a crowd.

Sister Schubert frozen rolls in air fryer are the best and cook up perfectly. There is nothing quite like quick dinner rolls.

Air Fryer Rolls Ingredients

  • Frozen Rolls: Grab a package of your favorite rolls. My air fryer can hold about 9 rolls.
  • Butter: I like to use unsalted, good quality butter. The butter will need to be melted.
The ingredients for Frozen rolls in air fryer are frozen dinner rolls and butter.

How to Cook Frozen Rolls in Air Fryer

  1. Melt the butter in the microwave.
  2. Spread the butter on the tops of every roll with a pastry brush.
  3. Place the frozen rolls into the air fryer.
  4. Cook at 350° for 5-6 minutes, if still a little cold in the center add one more minute.

How to Cook Sister Schubert Rolls in Oven

If you don’t have an air fryer, it’s no problem. I have included how to cook frozen rolls in the oven in case you need the info. These directions came off of the packaging.

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Put the number of frozen rolls you want to cook onto a baking sheet.
  3. Brush the tops with melted butter or whatever topping you desire.
  4. Place the baking sheet on the middle rack in the oven.
  5. Cook for 5-10 minutes until lightly browned.

Recipe Tips

  • Frozen dough rolls. If you are using the frozen parker house rolls or frozen rolls in tin pan that are dough, follow the instructions on the package to allow them to rise before putting them into the air fryer. Cook them at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
  • Cook time. All air fryers cook a little differently so cook for the lowest amount of time first then increase one minute at a time as needed.
  • Open anytime. Open your air fryer at any time to check to doneness of the rolls.
  • Oven or Basket. You can use the oven air fryer or basket type of air fryer to make these rolls, I use a Cosori Air Fryer 5.8 quart, that’s the basket type. You may be able to fit more than 9 rolls in the oven type of air fryer.
  • Make them herb rolls. Make these herb dinner rolls by mixing 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning or your favorite herbs into the melted butter then brush on top.
  • Dinner rolls for sliders. This is the perfect recipe to use to make quick rolls for sliders.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the best frozen dinner rolls? I love Sister Schubert’s dinner yeast rolls, they are the pre-cooked ones and all you have to do is heat them up. I also like the Sister Schubert Bake and Serve Parker House rolls in the tin pan. No this isn’t sponsored, I just think they are the best. Rhodes yeast dinner rolls are also at the top of our list, if they have them near you. Pepperidge Farms dinner rolls are also delicious if you can find them. Whole wheat dinner rolls would be great in the air fryer as well.
  • How long do Sister Schubert rolls last in freezer? The expiration date will be on the packaging, I wouldn’t use rolls past that date.
  • How to cook Sister Schubert rolls in the oven? If you don’t have an air fryer no need to fret. You can still make yeast rolls right in your oven. Just preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush rolls with melted butter and cook 5-10 minutes.
  • Can air fryer dinner rolls be frozen? Once you have cooked the dinner rolls, I recommend storing them in the fridge or at room temperature, not refreezing them.

How to Store Dinner Rolls

Let the rolls cool and put them into a glass or plastic container or zipper bag. They should last about 5-7 days in the refrigerator. Storing rolls at room temperature is the best way to store them. They will last 4-5 days. To reheat rolls in the air fryer, set it to 350°F and cook for 1-2 minutes until desired warmth is reached.

Ocean, I completely agree that these air fried rolls go really well with that tortellini soup (that’s also our favorite soup)!! We eat a lot of soup so I make these rolls a lot and my kids have yet to complain about them, lol. Thank you so much for your kind comment.

In your recipe it says at beginning to rise dough, then further down says place frozen roll in air fryer ..I may have missed something or misunderstood

  18. Tristin

    August 5, 2022 at 4:40 pm

Judy, some rolls are frozen raw dough that need to rise and others are baked rolls that do not need to rise. If they are just frozen rolls then you just need to place them into the air fryer. If you have rolls that need to rise, allow them to do that before putting them into the air fryer. Hopefully this was helpful.

My rolls turned out gross. Rhodes Rolls. I’m learning now that indeed they needed to rise. The instructions in this recipe need to be more crystal clear.

  20. Tristin

    January 26, 2025 at 12:06 pm

Kelly, the first step in the recipe states “If you are using frozen raw dough rolls, allow them to rise. If just using frozen rolls continue with the recipe.” I am not sure how to make it any more crystal clear.
