Homemade garlic bread is herby, packed with flavor-filled, pungent garlic, and baked in the air fryer until it is perfectly crispy.
The secret to great garlic bread is to use real cloves of garlic. It will give you that punch of flavor that will give you the best garlic bread.
It is also so easy to customize this recipe. I love to add cheese to garlic bread, like this stuffed cheesy garlic bread, YUM! You can make yours cheesy, too, by sprinkling on 1/2 cup of freshly grated mozzarella cheese or parmesan cheese in the last minute of cooking.
For a milder garlic flavor, use a head of roasted garlic on your bread instead of fresh. This air fryer roasted garlic recipe, is such an easy way to cook the garlic especially since you will already have your air fryer out.
What is Air Fryer Garlic Bread?
Also, sometimes called garlic toast, this crusty bread is made with the simplest ingredients. A soft loaf of bakery bread goes in to the air fryer slathered in a well-seasoned garlic butter and comes out with the crispiest crust and the softest middle.
Be sure to grab one of the long, soft loaves of bread from the grocery store to use in this recipe or you can make your own French bread.
I’ve found that softening the butter makes it much easier to make the garlic butter and mixing in some parsley, salt and pepper will give it a little extra flavor.
What to serve with Garlic Bread
Garlic bread makes an amazing side dish to so many main dishes. I like to pair it with a variety of meats like air fryer stuffed pork chops and some zucchini and squash.
Of course, the best way to eat it is alongside a big plate of pasta, garlic bread is the perfect way to sop up all of that extra sauce. Or dip it some soup!
Ingredients You Will Need
Here are the simple ingredients needed to make this easy garlic bread recipe. Check out the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts.
- Bread: When making garlic bread I use either a fluffy French bread loaf or an Italian bread loaf.
- Garlic: I love to use fresh garlic instead of powdered garlic when making this bread recipe.
- Butter: I like to use unsalted butter in this recipe. Make sure to pull your butter out in advance because you need soft butter, this makes it easier to stir all of your ingredients together.
- Parsley: I like to use fresh parsley instead of dry parsley. This is because it can get dried out in the cooking process. You want to get flat leaf Italian parsley not curly parsley.
- Salt and pepper: This seasoning adds some extra flavor.

Recipe Variations
Dried parsley. You can use dried parsley instead of fresh, but you will need less dry parsley than fresh parsley, so measure out . Dry parsley doesn’t have a ton of flavor, so you could use dried oregano instead for a little more flavor.
Garlic powder. If dried garlic is all you have, you can substitute it in for the cloves of garlic. You will use 1/4 teaspoon in place of each clove. Since this recipe uses 3 garlic cloves, you will need 3/4 teaspoon of garlic powder.
Add cheese. Two minutes before the end of cooking, add a sprinkling of your favorite shredded melty cheese to the garlic side of the bread.
Spicy bread. Make is spicy by adding in red pepper flakes to the butter mixture before brush it onto bread.
