Snowball Kiss Cookies
A classic Christmas cookie with a sweet twist, Snowball Kiss Cookies have a light sugar cookie flavor with chocolate kisses in the middle. Dusting powdered sugar on the outside makes them look like fluffy snowballs. They’re so much fun to eat and even more delightful to give way.

- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 28 chocolate kisses unwrapped
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar sifted for coating
In the bowl of a stand mixer, or using a handheld mixer, beat together the soft butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla with medium speed until creamed together.
Drop the speed to low and carefully add in the flour and beat for about a minute until just combined. Cover the cookie dough bowl with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
With a 1 tablespoon sized cookie scoop, scoop the dough. Roll it into a ball, then flatten it out with your hands making a small round disk. Place one of the kisses in the center and fold the dough up around the kiss. Try to round out the dough some.
Place each dough ball 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the bottoms are just turning brown but the cookie tops are still pale. It’s better to undercook than overcook them.
Let cookies cool for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet. Roll each cookie in the powdered sugar and set on wire racks to cool completely. The first layer of powdered sugar will get melty. Once completely cool, roll each cookie in powdered sugar again.
- Don’t overmix the cookie dough. As you add the flour, stop mixing when it is completely combined, not much longer.
- As you spread the cookie dough around the chocolate kiss, make sure it’s covered evenly on all sides.
- Makes 24 cookies. Store the snowball cookies in an airtight container. Keep them at room temperature in a dark place like the pantry. They will stay fresh for about a week.
