Ingredients

  • 16 ounce bread loaf French bread round
  • 8 ounce cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce your favorite
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 ounces ham cubed
  • green onions garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Cut the top of the bread loaf and remove the insides leaving at least 1 inch on the sides and the bottom. I like to cut the extra bread into slices and serve with the dip (or make into croutons for salad). Place the bread on a baking sheet.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, or a large bowl with a hand mixer, combine together cream cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheese (save 1/2 cup to sprinkle on top).
  • Add in chopped ham and mix in on low speed until combined.
  • With a rubber spatula, scrape all of the cheese mixture into the bread bowl. Add reserved 1/2 cup of shredded cheese to the top, then the green onions.
  • Rub a little butter or olive oil to the center of a piece of aluminum foil on the dull side, this will keep the cheese from sticking to the foil. Place the foil over the top of the bread bowl, you can try to leave a little space between the top of the bread and the foil, also. No foil is needed if using an iron skillet or baking dish.
  • Bake the bread for 35-45 minutes. Baking dish or skillet cooks for 30-35 minutes. Enjoy hot!

Notes

  • Bacon. Yes, you can make Mississippi sin dip with bacon! Just add 1 cup of cooked and crumbled bacon instead of diced ham.
  • Sausage. Make Mississippi sin dip with sausage instead of ham. Great way to use up leftover breakfast sausage. Add in 1 cup of sausage to the dip.
  • Green Chiles. Add in a small can of green chilies or canned jalapeños to the dip to add a little more spice.
  • Mississippi sin dip will last 2-3 days in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
