Move an oven rack to the middle of the oven. Preheat the oven to 475°F. Line a 13x9- inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Set aside.I
In a small microwave safe bowl, microwave the butter for 30 seconds at a time, stirring between each heat cycle until it’s melted (you may want to cover it in case it pops).
Pour the cold buttermilk into a 2-cup liquid measuring cup.
Slowly stir the melted butter into the buttermilk, it should form clumps.
Pour this into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
Using a greased ¼ cup dry measuring cup, drop a little less than level scoops of batter about 1 ½ inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 11-13 minutes, rotating the baking sheet halfway through baking. The tops will start to turn golden brown when they are done.
Brush on a little melted butter to the tops, if desired. Let cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
