- 1 pound fresh pizza dough
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 3 medium garlic cloves minced
- 1 teaspoon dry Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon flat leaf parsley optional, minced
- 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese shredded
- marinara sauce optional
Divide dough ball into 4 equal portions (4-ounces each). Set one of the dough pieces on a work surface and roll out into a 4 x 6-inch rectangle.
Cut each rectangle lengthwise into 4 strips (1 x 6-inch long). Tie each strip into a knot and tuck the tails if you like. Repeat this with all of the dough.
Cover dough knots lightly with plastic wrap and let come to room temperature for about 20-30 minutes.
Preheat the air fryer to 360°F.
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat, stirring as needed. Once melted, add in minced fresh garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and garlic powder. Cook for about one minute.
Brush each dough ball with the butter mixture, trying not to get any fresh garlic. Place them into the preheated air fryer and cook for 6-8 minutes until they are golden brown.
Once rolls are cooked, brush on leftover garlic butter adding the garlic pieces, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and optional chopped parsley. Serve warm.
- Use cold dough, it will be much easier to cut and tie into knots than dough that is warming up.
- When adding garlic butter, try to refrain from getting any actual garlic chunks as the garlic may burn in the air fryer. When doing the second round of buttering, then try to get some of the garlic on the buns.
- Keep space between the rolls as they cook so they don't all smush together.
- Check on the rolls during the cooking process. All air fryer cook differently so you want to start checking on them around 6 minutes to make sure they are not burning.
- Cook in batches if you need more rolls.
