Stuffed Cheese Garlic Bread

Make the ultimate side dish with this Stuffed Cheesy Garlic Bread recipe. Loaded with gooey cheese, melty butter and of course tons of fresh fragrant garlic. There is no reason to get store bought garlic bread when you can easily make it right at home!

Ingredients

  • 1 large French bread loaf
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened, cut into pieces
  • 4-6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh flat parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup parmesan shredded
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese shredded or 12 slices

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F and pull out a baking tray.
  • Set the bread loaf on a cutting board. Using a serrated knife cut the bread into 1 1/2-2 inch thick slices making sure not to cut all the way through (leave about 1/2 inch uncut at the bottom of the loaf).
  • In a small bowl, add in softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, olive oil, salt, pepper, and shredded cheeses. Mix well.
  • Stuff the herb butter mixture in between bread slices (add sliced mozzarella cheese in after, if using). To split the butter into more equal portions for the whole loaf, flatten out the mixture and draw a line down the center of it.
  • Wrap the bread in aluminum foil and place on baking sheet. Cook for 25 minutes. Pull back the aluminum foil from the bread and cook for 5 minutes to make the bread a nice golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese for the best meltyness. I don't recommend using the powdered pre-grated parmesan cheese.
  • For a pop of freshness, add the zest of one lemon to the butter mixture.
  • It is best to store garlic bread at room temperature and not in the refrigerator. Just put cooled slices into an airtight container or zip bag with air squeezed out. It should last about 2-3 days at room temperature.
