Ingredients

  • 16 ounces frozen cut green beans
  • 10.5 ounce can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 large garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups French's fried onions divided

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 13x9-inch baking pan, set aside.
  • Boiling Method: Bring ½ cup of water to a boil in a small pot, add in frozen green and bring back to a boil. Cook for 2 ½ minutes. Drain all excess water. Microwave Method: Or if you have steam in the bag green beans, cook them to the lowest cooking time. Drain all excess water.
  • While green beans are cooking, in the baking pan mix together the chicken soup, milk, minced garlic, seasoned salt, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add in well-drained green beans and 3/4 cup of the fried onions to the soup mixture, mix well.
  • Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Sprinkle on the rest of the fried onions and bake for another 7-10 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

    • Add sautéed mushrooms. If you have to have the mushrooms in this recipe, add in 1/2 cup of sautéed shrooms when you are mixing everything together.
    • Use homemade cream of chicken soup. If you have a homemade soup that you like, you can use it in this recipe. You could also use homemade cream of mushroom soup.
    • Green beans. You could use fresh green beans (just add the washed, ends snapped off green beans to boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then cold water to stop cooking). Or use canned green beans to save time because there is no pre-cooking. But, drop the salt that is added (keep the seasoned salt) otherwise it may end up too salty.
    • Cheesy green bean casserole. Add cheese to this family favorite for even more decadence. I prefer to use cheddar cheese.
    • Casserole will last 3-4 days in the fridge in an airtight container.
